Cher Lloyd has admitted that she owes much of her career success to date to the boys of One Direction.
The Swagger Jagger hitmaker graduated from the same series of The X Factor as the boyband stars and became close friends with the young hunks when they lived together in a London mansion as the series progressed.
1D finished in third place on the ITV show, while Cher came close behind in fourth and the acts also released their debut albums around the same time, with One Direction putting their first record 'Up All Night' and Cher releasing 'Sticks and Stones' in November 2011.
The boys went on to smash sales records around the world and became instant stars and while Lloyd hasn't enjoyed quite the same level of success, she has seen her music sales in the UK and America grow with each passing year.
She's become one of the most popular singers on the SYCO label and credits 1D with some of that success, telling OMG Yahoo:
'We are always all over the place trying to work hard and trying to get somewhere, so I've seen a lot of [1D] on the Internet and on TV, and it's great they're doing so well.'
Lloyd added;
'It kind of sets it up for me, too. You know, if someone else can do it from a TV show, then I can do it, too. It's hard for anyone to break into this music industry, and I think having a collective bunch of people makes it slightly easier - and the guys, too. Girls loves guys [laughs]...I'm very much a One Direction fan. I think they're the best boy [band] out there right now.'
Back in their X Factor days, it was reported that Cher had a bit of a fling with 1D star Harry Styles, however he later denied the rumour telling The Mirror:
'Cher's not really my type. She's a great girl. We've become good friends but that's it.'
Lloyd is a busy bee this summer and is flitting from one music festival to the next, as she puts on show after show for her fans around the world.
Her next stop is Brazil and yesterday the 'With Ur Love' singer tweeted:
'I will be performing at Mundo Show Festival,in São Paulo, Rio de janeiro and Recife can't wait to get to brazil!!!xxx(: #cherlloydinbrazil'
She added:
'Brazil!!! Just posted some dates for you on my site http://bit.ly/12C8Rqv (: xxx #BrazilBrats'
