MTV Video Music Awards: Justin Timberlake, Macklemore lead with 6 nods

Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead this year's crop of MTV Video Music Awards nominations.


The "Suit & Tie" singer and the "Thrift Shop" duo are tied with six nominations each, the network announced Wednesday. Bruno Mars follows with four nods, and Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Pink earned three nominations each.



Timberlake's "Mirrors" and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" are both up for the coveted video of the year award, competing against Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven," "Blurred Lines" by Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell and Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble."


Timberlake's nominations also include best male video and best pop video for "Mirrors" and best collaboration for "Suit & Tie" with Jay-Z.


Beginning Wednesday, fans can vote in general VMA categories, including video of the year, artist to watch and more, by visiting vma.mtv.com.


The MTV Video Music Awards will be handed out at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. ET.
