Singer and former Barney & Friends star, Demi Lovato, caused quite the stir last week when reports surfaced that she had dissed fellow Millennial popstar, Justin Bieber. Now she's trying to set the record straight.
So, the alleged dissing supposedly went like this: At an audition for the X Factor ( where she sits atop a judging thrown) held at the University of Southern California, the "Heart Attack" singer said, "Well, finally someone can sing the song the way it was meant to be sung" after a male contestant sang the Bieb's hit "As Long as You Love Me." And then everyone was all like, "Ooooh! Ouch! Bam! Zing!"
She attempted to clarify the perceived jab shortly after the incident took place by tweeting:
"Btw - no shade thrown at Justin. So many people audition with his songs.. Finally someone sang it the way it was meant to be sung. Meaning, finally someone sang it the way JUSTIN sang it."
But, a tree falling in the forest and all that...
Luckily, she was able to defend herself recently (again; in more than 140 characters) by breaking down the whole story to MTV News.
"What they didn't put in the tabloids is that I actually turned around 'cause the audience was like, 'Oooh' and I was like 'Actually, guys, you took me the wrong way,'" Lovato said.
"I actually explained myself right then and there, but they didn't put that on TMZ."
She added:
"It is annoying, but it is what it is. I have to be more careful with the way that I word things, but I was home schooled so my grammar's not the best."
We're with you Demi: Both TMZ and grammar are kinda the pits. On the upside, there has never been a better time to commiserate over a beer with Kanye West!
