She's currently on tour across the country promoting her latest album Red.

But when she's not singing on stage to thousands of fans, Taylor Swift can be found indulging in her favourite things -- including devoting her time to charity.

The 23-year-old was travelling through her native state of Pennsylvania on Saturday and chose to share her afternoon with patients at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia.

Ryan Seacrest shared a couple of snaps of the star visiting the hospital, which is partnered with his charity the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.

'Wanted 2 share these pics w/ u guys... @TaylorSwift spent some time with the kids at #seacreststudios today at Children's Hospital Philadelphia...never were smiles bigger. Thnk u T,' the American Idol host wrote on his Instagram.

The studio, which is set up in the hospital's main lobby, offers a radio station and multimedia centre for young patients to hone their media skills and sees frequent celebrity visits, including Joe Jonas and Julianne Hough.

Taylor looked humbled by her charitable stop, dressed down in a girlish red and white frock, her lips painted a bright cherry tone to match.

The 23-year-old pleasantly smiled as she stopped to chat with her fans, embracing them and signing autographs along the way.

The Grammy award winner is currently touring the United States on her Red Tour, making two stops in the City of Brotherly Love on Friday and Saturday night.

The turn to charity is a favourite project for the singer, as she was named the most charitable celebrity in 2012 by the website .

She also donated $4 million to the Country Hall of Fame to fund a new 7,500 square foot wing of the museum which will be named the Taylor Swift Education Center.

'I learned all about country music through what I saw on TV and the research that I did,' Swift explained of her gift.

'I didn't really know that there was a museum you could go to, to see all these different outfits from all these legends. I didn't know that you could go to a place and see it all in person. So it's gonna be amazing for kids to get to have a place where they can go and learn what they possibly can.'

She was also recognised for being the youngest recipient of the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for her work.
